07/03/2010 - The Puppies start going to their new homes
Two of the girls, Bramatha Going Under Grouund (Poppy) and Bramatha I'm Under Control (Darcey) have gone to their new homes this weekend, with Robert getting rather emotional about it, however the puppies have coped better with the change! One of the boys, Bramatha Under The Sun goes to his new home on Monday morning. We wish them all well and look forward to hearing about their progress and adventures.
28/02/2010 - Puppy photos
We are very grateful to Hayley Tomlinson for taking some wonderful "professional style" photos of the puppies at 7 weeks, with Gemma Knight giving the puppies their first show training lesson! Please use this link to see the photos http://www.flickr.com/photos/47968736@N06/ Hope you enjoy looking at them.
27/02/2010 - Visitors Gallore!
The puppies had an exhausting day with many visitors - big and small, judges, breeders and interested parties all looking at the puppies. We were lucky as the day was fine, so we could be in the garden, although everyone was delighted to come in the kitchen and warm up!
We were very grateful to Rosie Bates who took a few pics and provided the home page, but also to Hayley Tomlinson who took hundreds of very professional photos and she didn't get to have lunch! I will be working on putting some of these on the website or even providing links in due course.
In the meantime some of the puppies are looking forward to going to their new homes next weekend - let's hope the new owners are ready for them!
The Kennel Club registrations have come through and the names have the theme of "Under" in them.
21/02/2010 - Beate puppies at 6 weeks
We have had a busy weekend with lots of visitors to see the puppies. Finally the puppies have been out in the garden - only for a short while as the temperatures are still cold. They have had great fun exploring the garden and then enjoying cuddles from the human spectators! Robert has great fun searching for any escapees under bushes or even climbing up on top of flower pots. It is hard to believe this is their first adventures in the garden - it takes some work to keep track of the 8 puppies. See "Dogs of Today" for more puppy pictures - thanks to the Foster girls.
01/02/2010 - Beate Puppies Update at 3 weeks old
The puppies are all eating well, enjoying a variety of "gourmet delights" from scrambled egg to proper "baby dog food" - they certainly are not fussy! They have very good appetites and had four weetabix between them this morning! My two legged boys seem to have taken to enjoying weetabix for breakfast as well!!! Not sure that is allowed!! The puppies are very vocal if their meals are late and do not like waiting!!!
They are starting to play with each other and develop their own little personalities.
31/01/2010 - THE LAST DAY OF THE SHOOTING SEASON
Sarah and Dennis went out for the last day of the shooting season - the Beaters Day, which was a very cold but bright day. In the afternoon Robert joined as well, especially as there was a tea party for everyone. Now we have to wait for the start of the next season. Robert may become more of a regular next season….
24.01.2010 - The puppies are now 2 weeks old
Today we had a lovely visit from the Foster family who own "Auntie Jane" who is sister to Dennis. Thank you to Milly Foster for taking the photographs so that the website can be updated.
The babies are doing very well - they have more than doubled their weight in the first 2 weeks of their lives! They are still relying on Beate only for their food/milk. The plan was that they would start on "grown up" food today, but Beate had different ideas! As can be seen from some of the pictures the puppies now have their eyes open and they are really quite mobile, although it is hard to see that from the home page pic where they were all very "podged out"!
They are starting to develop their own little personalities and are quite a fascination for all!
17/01/10 - The Beate Puppies are now 8 days old
Today Beate and her puppies had a visit from Mary and Sharon who helped to take the photographs. The puppies have grown well in the last week and we are all delighted with their progress. Beate is still looking amazingly well considering the size of the puppies. Grand dad Dennis is in the kitchen supervising their upbringing and alerting Sarah when he thinks all is not well, which usually means that the puppies are demanding more milk! He is being quite an amazing Grand dad. The puppies are fairly vocal if they think it is feed time and Beate is having a "rest" outside the box. Their little tails wag and they manage to move quite quickly already around their box. For pictures of the puppies, go to "Dogs of Today" then look for Beate bitches and Beate dogs. Hope you enjoy looking at them.
09.01.2010 BRAMATHA PUPPIES AT LAST!
Here we are snow bound, but Beate (Marsalland Special Edition) has safely delivered a beautiful litter of 8 black puppies (3 dogs and 5 bitches) to Flatgarden's Eirik XVIII. A huge thank you to Christin the owner of Eirik in allowing us to use him and also to the "Flatgarden's Kennel" for sending over such an outstanding dog. The puppies were all very even weighing in at just under a 1lb (500g), Beate is being a very good mother providing an excellent milk bar to keep all happy! Robert is already wanting to feed the puppies with dog biscuits! Don't worry he is just giving those to Beate, who deserves a few extra treats! It is such an exciting time for us as it is nearly 4 years since we last had a litter. Go to the "Gallery" section to see more about Eirik.
12/12/2009 - LKA Championship Show - Judge Mr John Thirwel
Thanks to the wonderful judge and it was another great day out. Marsalland Treacle Pud coming 3rd in Post Graduate and his "Uncle Johnny" aka Bramatha Back to Reality also managing a 3rd in Limit. But the big highlight of the day was Ruby (Marsalland Rose Again) coming 2nd in Limit and thus gaining a life qualfication to Crufts. A fantastic thrill with Ruby after an incredibly successful 2009 with her being placed, I think, on every outing. Thanks to Mary Bates the breeder of the Marsallands and all her support and help during the year and of course Sharon, Rosie and Fiona who have somehow managed to keep Sarah in the right ring with the right dog at the right time - it has been quite a juggle but somehow they have managed to organise Sarah - the greatest achievement of all!!! Plus quite often having the added challenge of Robert helping too..
04/12/2009 - Dennis Puppies
We are delighted to announce the safe arrival of 12 black puppies in Poland sired by Dennis (Bramatha Back To The Future) or "Denisowe" as he seems to be known as in Polish! Polka Czarna Mafia is the proud mother of this very even litter of 6 dogs and 6 bitches. Mafia and Barbara are well known for their pet therapy work which they perform with children in the town of Lodz. Barbara Jolanta Niedzielska, the breeder of the litter, picked "Denisowe" for his looks and wonderful temperament. More info can be found on www.hodowla-polka.pl/art.php?art=95
We wish Barbara and Mafia good luck with this litter.
2/11/2009 - Darroch The Search Dog
Beate's brother, Darroch, has become a "search dog". When out for a walk in Scotland with his owners, Mr and Mrs Baxter, Darroch did a lot of sniffing around and then proudly returned to his owners with a wallet full of money and credit cards! I haven't heard what the reward was, but I hope it was something extra special for Darroch!!!
01.11.09 The NEFRA Championship Show
What a fantastic day for Sarah running between the two rings and somehow managing to be with the right dog in the right ring - thanks to all who helped to keep her on track!! The dogs were judged by Mr Graham Lambert who looked very favourably upon all our dogs - Marsalland Treacle Pud was 3rd in post graduate; Bramatha Back to Reality was 2nd in Limit and Bramatha Back to the Future was 3rd in Open. The bitches were judged by Mr Bob Allen who awarded Marsalland Rose Again 5th in Limit - a brilliant result for her first outing in Limit. Marsalland Special Edition stayed at home as she was in season so would have been very unwelcome at the show!
18.10.2009 The Joint Flatcoated Retriever Championship Show
MARSALLAND ROSE AGAIN did it again and won the Graduate class and Marsalland Special Edition came 4th in the Limit class. Thanks to the wonderful judge Mrs Rosalie Brady and Mary Bates the breeder of the Marsalland girls.
27.09.2009 The Swedish Bramatha girls win at Norwegian Retriever Field Trial.
Congratulations to Marita Stigelius and Esse (Ebisdawn Mor of Bramatha) who won at a Norwegian Field Trial with Barbro Fridstrom and Bramatha Hot Love coming second. All their hard work has paid off. Not sure whether they will be allowed back into Norway!!
13.09.2009 Richmond Championship Show judged by Mr David Bellamy
Sarah had a "Blue Day" wnning 2nd in Mid Limit with Dennis (Bramatha Back To The Future) and 2nd in Post Graduate with Beate (Marsalland Special Edition). Thanks to the judge for looking so favourably upon the dogs and to Andrea Winterburn the navigator and helper for the day.
